The Anime...

For anyone new to orjust interested in Oh My Goddess!, it's essential to see the videos!  They explain so much about the plot and the characters that one cannot learn from reading a few of the manga issues.  True, they are expensive, but I think you'll agree that the videos are very good and worth watching many times!

Produced by Kodansha, the videos are very closely based on Fujishima Kousuke's ideas used for the Oh My Goddess! comics, with very little differences.  For example, there are a lot of characters in the manga that never show up in the anime.  One other thing is that the anime seems to be completely separate from the manga; in the manga they never make references to people or events in the anime.

What follows is a short description of each video:

#1 Moonlight and Cherry Blossoms
In this video, Keiichi meets the goddess Belldandy.  Keiichi makes the contract with Belldandy (If you don't know what the contract is you'll have to watch the video!!), and they find a place to live.  The temple they find to live in is the same place as the temple they live in in the manga.
#2 Midsummer Night's Dream
Keiichi meets Belldandy's sister Urd.   She gives Keiichi the courage to make a move on Belldandy while they are at the sea shore.  Urd's plans for Keiichi backfire, and Belldandy ends up telling Keiichi how she feels about him to make sure he feels the same.  They both admit that they love each other, and Urd has to live with them for crashing "The Ultimate Force."
#3 Burning Hearts on the Road
Belldandy's younger sister Skuld enters here; she is alone in heaven and can't deal with the bugs.  She comes to Earth to try to get Belldandy to come home with her.  Since Keiichi has a contract with Bell and she can't leave, Skuld starts to hate Keiichi.  When Keiichi is in a drag racing competition, Skuld tries to make the opposing team win, but because of Belldandy's faith and Keiichi's good heart, he wins the race anyways.
#4 Evergreen Holy Night
Things are going smoothly for Keiichi and the three goddesses.  But strange things start happening.  It snows on the temple when it's not winter.  Finally Skuld figures out that something is causing bugs in the system to form when Bell and Kei are together.  Belldandy is too sad to tell them that it is because something from the past is being unlock and there was an unfulfilled promise. Belldandy is then recalled to heaven.  Keiichi knows for some reason that he must give her a ring.
#5 For the Love of Goddess
Everyone is sad that Bell must go back except Skuld.  She can't wait to go back to heaven with Belldandy.  Urd explains that Bell will just be depressed, so she sucks Skuld into a plan to try to stop the return process.  Meanwhile, Keiichi is working as hard as he can to get enough money to buy a ring for Bell, because subconsciously, he remembers that he and Bell met as kids and he promised he would buy her a ring, but couldn't.  Skuld and Urd are making a magical mandala that can counter the return process for Belldandy.  Keiichi gets the ring just in time, but when he goes to hand it to Belldandy, the return gate opens.  Urd activates the magic and the gate explodes; everyone is temporarily knocked out.  When they come to, Keiichi is passed out, his psyche is buried in its own depths and he can't be considered alive unless Belldandy delves into his mind and saves him.  She does so and helps Keiichi remember their past experience (watch and find out).  By doing so she invalidates the recall notice, and she can stay with Keiichi forever!
